A New Zealand Metro side featuring Israel Dagg (far right) won their fourth and final 10s title in 2008.

Aliens, generally made up of New Zealanders playing in Japan, are the tournament’s most successful side, winning seven times and finishing runners-up five times in 18 years of participation from 1993 to 2010.

Their first major rival was Fijian side Magicians, who won four of the five straight finals they reached from 1996 (only losing in 1997, to Aliens).

Aliens’ next major rivals was New Zealand Metro, formerly Auckland Police, who won four of the seven finals they contested in eight years from 2001 to 2008.

BGC Asia Pacific Dragons are the tournament’s modern giants and in 2015 won their third Cup title in four years to draw level with NZ Forces SE Asia, who won a hat-trick of titles from 1987.
